Biodata

Joe Studwell is an author, journalist, public speaker and occasional university teacher; He is also doing a mid-career PhD at Cambridge University in the UK. He lives in a remote part of central Italy (the photo on the home page is a view from home), travel regularly to Cambridge, and do most of my research in East Asia.

His two most recent books are Asian Godfathers (2007, about developmental failure in south-east Asia) and The China Dream (2003, about the 1990s foreign investment gold rush in China). He hopes to finish his next book, a thematic history of development across the East Asian region, in 2010.
